New COVID Jab Approved

As part of the autumn booster programme, a COVID vaccine that combats both the original strain and Omicron will be distributed throughout England starting on September 5.

When the rollout begins, people in care facilities and those who are housebound will be among the first to receive injections, according to NHS England.

A bigger deployment is scheduled to start on September 12.

On Monday 22nd August 2022, the UK became the first nation in the world to approve Moderna’s vaccine, which targets both the primary COVID strain and the Omicron variation.

Since the advent of the Omicron variety, international manufacturers have started creating bivalent vaccines, which protect against two illnesses.

In accordance with the recommendations made on Monday by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI), ministers have stated that the 26 million people in England who are eligible for an autumn booster will have access to one of the bivalent vaccinations.

It follows reports claiming that there aren’t enough doses available in the nation for everyone who qualifies for the booster shot to receive the new vaccine.
