I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how successful the Stress Awareness Month we held in April has been, and to also say thank you to all who contributed to its success. As you know, we held a number of activities during the month and here is an update on what we covered…
Rocialle Runners & Ramblers
We kicked off with the “Rocialle Runners and Ramblers” group, with a number of staff meeting at the end of the day on a Thursday to walk 4 miles along the riverside on the Taff trail. The weekly sessions have continued every week and some of the routes have included, a loop of Mountain Ash and even a climb up to The Watchy!!. All employees are welcome whether your preference is walking, jogging, running or even climbing. It’s also a great opportunity to catch up with friends and work colleagues.
“Exercise stimulates the production of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that are the body’s natural painkillers and mood elevators. Walking, Jogging and running are listed as the best stress-busting exercises”
Charity Bake Sale
We also held a bake sale in aid of Mind Charity and I am very pleased to announce that we raised a total of £150, so a HUGE thank you to all who baked, bought, or who just made a donation without taking a cake. This event did show once again that Rocialle Healthcare has some fantastic bakers, maybe one day we should hold a “Great Rocialle Bake Off” competition! I must also say a big thank you to Sheryl Penney, who bought £10 worth of cakes for her grandchildren’s tea. Sheryl said they all thoroughly enjoyed them!

Lastly, I must not forget to mention our Rocialle Healthcare babies, who also took part in the baking. Shannon Griffiths said her daughter Willow thoroughly enjoyed helping out, but on the other hand, Shannon Juliff’s daughter, Sallie, was not at all impressed! These pictures made us smile. 😊
Mental Health & Employee Assistance Programme
We were very pleased to welcome back Case-UK, Able Futures (Award Winning Mental Health Service), on site to hold their drop in sessions and I am pleased to say, several employees took the opportunity to speak with them and sign up to their counselling program.
Please remember, if you are struggling with your mental health and would like to be referred to Case-UK, Able Futures for some counselling or even just to chat, please contact a member of the HR team. Alternatively, you can contact them directly, on telephone number, 029 21 676214 or 0800 321 3137 (8.00am to 10.30pm Monday to Friday). We also have our mental health first aiders on site for each department (Joanne Kidner, Sarah Jones, Maria Phipps, Neesha Lougher, Leah Griffiths, Sam Lane), and you can speak to any one of them, at any time.
Rocialle Step Challenge
A number of employees took part in our step challenge over the bank holiday weekend and I am very pleased to announce that Richard Sharpe from the Finance department won the prize, for achieving a staggering 145,860 steps, WOW!!!
A massive well done Richard as well as the other employees who took part.
Once again, thank you to all who took part and contributed during the month, it’s great to see the Rocialle Healthcare family come together as one to show their support for a great cause.
