Job Purpose

The Creative Designer will take a lead role in developing the visual identity of the corporate brand and the different trading divisions within the group.

Working in collaboration with key stakeholders, you will be responsible for the creation and delivery of design assets across both traditional channels and digital media; including websites, e-mail and print campaigns, adverts, infographics, product packaging, exhibition stands and much more. Ideal for an all-rounder, you will also be involved with photography and video production, along with supporting the growth of a Graduate Graphic Designer through coaching and direction.

You will ‘own’ the brand guidelines, which you will continue to evolve in line with contemporary design trends and company strategy. Your ability to translate customer needs into engaging visual outputs will influence marketing plans and campaign management.

Displaying creative flair, passion and professionalism, the Creative Designer will be a confident user of the Adobe Suite, including Illustrator and InDesign.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with internal stakeholders on job briefs, determining requirements and advising with regards to design style, format, production and timescales.
  • Developing design briefs by gathering information and data through research.
  • Thinking creatively to propose and produce new ideas and visual concepts.
  • Managing proposals from typesetting, through to design and production.
  • Presenting finalised ideas and concepts to internal clients or account managers.
  • Conceptualising illustrations, logos and other designs using software or by hand.
  • Designing digital assets including website pages, e-mails, e-brochures and display ads.
  • Designing printed assets including promotional brochures, adverts, product packaging and exhibition stands.
  • Designing materials for internal communications, including quarterly newsletters and posters.
  • Undertaking product photography and image cut-out formatting, suitable for still and 360-degree rotation use.
  • Delivering people and lifestyle visuals through a combination photography shoots and photoshopping of stock imagery.
  • Producing A+ content, including support with corporate and product videos.
  • Managing the filing and effective storage of the company image library and design assets.
  • Owning the company’s brand identity and ensure all deliverables consistently follow current brand guidelines.
  • Proof reading of all work to ensure accuracy and high quality is maintained.
  • Ensuring that creative work is regularly showcased and communicated to internal stakeholders.
  • Challenging existing systems and propose new procedures for efficient and effective production.
  • Liaising with printers, packaging companies and other external providers.
  • Support the business with design work as and when required.
  • Supervising a Graduate Graphic Designer, providing support, training, coaching and direction.

Education / Experience

  • Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Practical experience of working in a design role.
  • Ability to display a portfolio of existing work.
  • Professional development.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, and After Effects.
  • Ability to demonstrate creative flair and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Ability to illustrate by hand and/or by a design package.
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Open to collaborative working and feedback.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • HTML experience is advantageous.
